BasicGrey's 3rd Quarter Release: SECOND CITY by KELLY PURKEY

Hello, everyone!!

I just wanted to share one of my last projects as a design team member at BasicGrey. I am so thrilled this is the line that I got to do my final projects with. I am absolutely, completely in love with SECOND CITY, the new inspired by Kelly Purkey line. Knowing Kelly like I do, I was quite sure she'd have the city angle covered for any sample, so I wanted to go someplace completely different. The awesome skyline papers as well as the addition of purples and black made this just call out for a HALLOWEEN layout - yes, HALLOWEEN!!

Am I right?!
Here are my youngest monkeys a few years ago trick or treating...and keeping our city safe!

Look at that city flair and the chipboard! SO much fun! I am over-the-moon excited!

I couldn't completely this layout without a bit of Kelly's own font on here - SP Purkage! It was the perfect finishing touch!

Hop on over to the BasicGrey blog for your chance to win not only this collection, but their new Christmas collection, Evergreen!

Have a great weekend!

So Long, Thank You & My Loss is YOUR Gain!

Hi, all....

As I'm sure many of you might have already heard or have just been gradually figuring it out, I have made the extremely hard decision to take a step back from professional scrapbooking.

I have been in this amazing industry for many (MANY!) years now and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities and experiences that have come my way as a result of it - truly they are too many to name. But my life has come to a sort of crossroads with everyone going different directions and I want to make sure that I am as present as I can possibly be for the next phase of my family. I promise that I will continue to scrapbook for me, though maybe not as frequently, and will continue to post perhaps here but especially on my scrapbook-related Facebook page.

And if you'd like, I'd love it if you would continue to support me in my brand new adventure! I have started my own photography business. You can keep tabs on me here: KELLY GOREE PHOTOGRAPHY or on the Facebook version of that site HERE. I'm crazy excited about this new opportunity and am looking forward to capturing some amazing memories for others.

ANDDDD...
As I'm sure you have guess/hoped, I am cleaning/purging my scrappy space to make room for photo equipment and such! I hope my LOSS is YOUR GAIN!

HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY (and Derby Day, too!)

Hello and HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY, everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous day and are finding time to create and do what you love! Here in Kentucky, NSD also means it’s Kentucky Derby Day so besides sharing here with you, I’ll be spending my time watching the races with some good friends and eating (and maybe even drinking) wonderful things. Hey, a celebration is a celebration!

There are so many amazing activities around the web (and hopefully at some of your local stores too) to celebrate NSD and so much inspiration to be found, but I truly hope that you'll stop by and join me and the rest of the team at Scrapbook & Cards Today! I can assure you that they will keep you inspired and loaded with prizes all. day. long!

Of course to celebrate such a special day, I had to create a little something new to share. I had many ideas in my head – but decided to keep it simple and focus on a few of my very favorite things (I bet you can even name them with me!) - PageMaps sketches, BasicGrey paper and my Silhouette Cameo. Trust me when I say you can’t go wrong with any of these but when you add them all up, you get an easy recipe for beautiful pages and tons of fun.

Cool Dude by Kelly Goree
Supply List: Bazzill Basics cardstock; BasicGrey patterned paper, epoxy dots, stickers, alpha stickers; Simple Stories brads; Fiskars star punches; Ellison/Sizzixs circle die; Silhouette electronic cutting machine; Scrapbook adhesives by 3L and Xyron adhesive; Pentel pen; Sharpie markers; Cut Files by Nicole Nowosad for Scrapbook & Cards Today; Sketch by Becky Fleck of PageMaps for Scrapbook & Cards Today

For this layout, I first picked one of the bonus sketches from the PageMaps article in the Summer 2013 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today. I always love good sketches and this one was a favorite of mine – in fact I’ve even used it a time or two before. This time, however I decided to stretch the 8.5x11 format into a 12x12 because I wanted to play around with the background and wanted all the space I could get.

Then I figured I HAD to use these amazing new and FREE cut files from Nicole Nowosad for SCT because, HELLO – they are all about BOYS!! I loved the brush script words and stars in this set and decided I was going to try my hand at making my own background paper with them. I separated Nic’s files and arranged them on my background the way I liked. I really wanted them to POP so I cut them out of a bright patterned paper and then backed them with solid black cardstock.

The BasicGrey HIGHLINE line was absolutely amazing for these files. I adore the vivid colors in the collection and they had just the right vibe and feel to go with the cut files.

And while we’re on the topic of my favorite things – I absolutely LOVE adding pink to my boy pages. I don’t get to use it near enough and I think it can be masculine, too, when used in the right way!

I hope that this fun page has inspired you a bit and that you have an amazing day FULL of creating! And please, share what you make! I’d love to see it!

xoxo,
Kelly

BasicGrey HIGHLINE + FREE Cut File

Hi, all!!

I'm here today to share my new layoutthat is up on the BasicGrey blog today! It features the gorgeous Highline collection and our fun new wooden shapes.  As an added bonus, we've included the fun cut file I created that I used as the background mat to this project. It's my first one so I'm pretty excited! Click HERE to download it.

Highline was one of my favorite collections we released this summer at CHA. I adore  how trendy it is with the brush script and bold colors but I also love how it's a throwback to vintage BasicGrey and one of our very first lines, Sublime. It just couldn't be better. My only dilemma was that it was so pink that I wasn't sure how I was going to use it for my boys. But trust me, friends, when it comes to something I love, I find a way!

The Highline collection was such a fun choice for this photo - the bright colors and whimsical feel of the papers  and unique embellishments like the wood chalkboard shapes just set off the Valentine's Day theme.  I don't get many Valentine's photos anymore, so when I do I cherish them! This year was most likely Carson's last year of school Valetine's parties and I was sad...and then even sadder when school was called off early because of the weather. So to cheer him up, we made these fun cupcakes for everyone.

Supply List: BasicGrey Highline PP, 6x6 pad, diecuts and overlays, wood chalkboard shapes; BasicGrey alpha stickers, enamel dots
other: Cut file by Kelly Goree, Cardstock, Thread, pen, adhesive

I love how the reds and peaches in these papers made his skin glow.

Check out those fun wooden shapes. They have a chalkboard like finish and the alphabet stickers really POP when placed on them. I love how it adds a special element to the title.

And a bit more of the cut file details. Don't forget you can download one to use for yourself HERE. If you use it, I'd love it if you'd link me up and show me what you did with it!

And one more thing, BasicGrey is once again doing their retailer Page of the Month (and Card of the Month) kits! They are awesome classes (recognize one of the cuties in the below photos? ;)) and you don't want to miss them! Call your local LSS to see about getting the classes near you!

BASICS: BasicGrey Blog Layout featuring CAPTURE

Hi all!
I'm here today to share a layout I did for the BasicGrey blog that is really dear to my heart - it's about one of my son's very first milestones as a Boy Scout. And as this same kiddo is now embarking on his final Eagle project, I am realizing just now terrible I have been documenting his progress and amazing achievements.
To be fair, there just haven't been a lot of product out there in the scrapbooking world that really worked well for scouting photos - that is until CAPTURE and even Hey Boy! by BasicGrey. I fell in love. And when BG released the cut files with Silhouette for the Canvas Patches I was over the moon! And so now I'm furiously working on getting his album finished to display when he has his Eagle Court of Honor.

Seriously - these patches make me swoon. I definitely see them becoming the unifying theme for my album!! They made it so easy to layer different sheets of Capture patterned papers along with wood veneer shapes and Candy Buttons.

So if you'll excuse me - I'm going to go rock in the corner for just how big my boy is getting already. I'll be back soon to share more, I promise.
